San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama, who has turned his pre-game Halloween arrivals into viral moments, said Tuesday he likely will not wear a costume this year.

The 7-foot-4 rookie sensation gained attention in 2023 when he showed up for an Oct. 31 matchup against the Phoenix Suns dressed as the supernatural figure Slenderman. He followed the entrance with 18 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in a 115-114 win.

One year later, he arrived at the arena disguised as No-Face from the Oscar-winning animated film “Spirited Away.” That game against the Utah Jazz produced 25 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and five steals and blocks apiece—the second time he registered at least five in five statistical categories.

This season, however, the Spurs host the Miami Heat on Thursday, not on Halloween night. Speaking two days before the game, Wembanyama suggested that the scheduling quirk will keep him out of costume. “Days away [from Halloween] but we don’t got a game on Halloween,” he said. “So, we don’t get to see a costume this year, unfortunately.”

Whether he sticks to that decision remains to be seen, but the team’s pregame tunnel in San Antonio will still draw attention on Thursday.
