LOS ANGELES — Guard Luke Kennard believes his late-season move to the Los Angeles Lakers has flourished because head coach JJ Redick understands exactly what a perimeter marksman needs to thrive.
Kennard, acquired at the Feb. 7, 2026, trade deadline, said after the Lakers jumped out to a 2-0 first-round lead over the Houston Rockets that Redick’s 15-year NBA career as an elite three-point shooter has translated directly to the practice court and game plans.
Coach’s perspective matters
“We’ve talked about how he used to get open and find shots,” Kennard said. “Having someone who’s been through playoff defenses and understands what I’m seeing makes it easier to trust the spots he puts me in.”
