Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark said Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has become a consistent source of guidance as she navigates the heightened attention surrounding her WNBA career.

Speaking with ESPN’s Malika Andrews on “NBA Today,” Clark explained that James routinely checks in and previously contacted her after an injury last season. “He understands the microscope that I’m under and the spotlight that’s on me, and I think he just wants to be there for me,” she said. According to Clark, the four-time NBA champion even offered to connect her with specialists during her recovery.

The relationship extends beyond basketball. Clark noted that the two frequently text about golf and hope to schedule a round together, joking that they may spend significant time “chasing the ball.”

James, 41, is in his 23rd NBA season and has faced intense scrutiny since entering the league as a highly touted high-school prospect. Clark, 24, drew similarly sharp media focus during her record-setting college career and after being drafted first overall by Indiana. The Fever’s lone WNBA championship came in 2012, and the franchise hopes Clark can help end that drought.
