Timberwolves guard Ayo Dosunmu is officially questionable for Friday’s Game 3 against San Antonio after leaving Wednesday’s contest with right heel pain, the team announced. The second-year pro had returned in Game 2 following two missed outings—Game 6 versus Denver and Game 1 against the Spurs—because of right calf soreness, but exited in the second quarter and did not return.
All-Star guard Anthony Edwards also carries a questionable designation for Game 3 as he continues to manage a left knee bone bruise suffered on April 25. Edwards has been on a minutes restriction and has come off the bench in both second-round games.
Finch dissatisfied with Game 2 effort
Head coach Chris Finch said his club was “punked” by a desperate Spurs team in Wednesday’s blowout loss. Finch criticized Minnesota’s response to San Antonio’s ball pressure and selective double-teams on Edwards, noting poor spacing and late decision-making.
McDaniels’ foul trouble shifts momentum
Forward Jaden McDaniels was limited to fewer than 20 minutes after picking up his third foul in the second quarter. The Spurs mounted a decisive run during his absence, and the game was effectively out of reach when he returned. “We’re not gonna win if he’s not on the floor,” Edwards said.
Clark carves out rotation role
Second-year guard Jaylen Clark has earned minutes against San Antonio after appearing in just two of six first-round games. “Nobody is guarding me right now,” Clark said of the Spurs’ defensive approach, adding that a couple of made shots are enough to justify his floor time.
