The Washington Wizards will waive second-year forward Dillon Jones as they trim their roster to the regular-season limit, according to multiple league sources.

Jones’ $2,753,280 salary for 2025-26 is fully guaranteed, so Washington will carry that amount as dead cap if he is not claimed off waivers. The club is also declining its third-year team option on the former first-round pick.

Selected 26th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft out of Weber State, the 6’5” wing spent his rookie year with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He appeared in 54 regular-season games for the eventual champions, averaging 2.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 10.2 minutes, and logged 23 games with the G League’s Oklahoma City Blue, where he posted 13.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists per contest.

Oklahoma City sent Jones to Washington in late June in a salary-dump trade shortly after winning its first title. The Utah native, who will turn 24 on October 29, saw action in three preseason games for the Wizards, contributing 2.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals across 11.3 minutes a night.

No corresponding moves have been announced, but Washington’s decision positions the team to enter opening night with the maximum 15 standard contracts.
