Free agent forward Guerschon Yabusele has accepted a three-year contract with Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Scotto reports that the deal will place the 30-year-old among the three highest-paid basketball players in Europe.
Yabusele returned to the NBA in the 2024/25 season after a five-year absence, appearing with the Philadelphia 76ers. He then signed a two-year pact with the New York Knicks last summer but struggled to secure minutes, logging 8.9 minutes per game over 41 outings off the bench.
Seeking a larger role, the French forward declined his 2026/27 player option in February, a move that helped the Knicks trade him to the Chicago Bulls. Chicago, focused more on draft positioning than wins, started Yabusele in 19 of his 26 appearances; he averaged 10.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest.
Although Yabusele expressed interest in remaining in the NBA, overseas clubs showed greater demand. Before his latest NBA stint, he spent three seasons (2021–24) with Real Madrid, solidifying his reputation in European play.
The agreement with Panathinaikos returns Yabusele to Europe on a lucrative multiyear deal that will keep him with the Athens club through the 2028 season.
