Victor Wembanyama delivered 32 points, eight rebounds and six assists Monday night, guiding the San Antonio Spurs to a 115-111 victory over the New York Knicks in Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden.

The result trims New York’s series advantage to 2-1 and prevents San Antonio from slipping into a 3-0 deficit. It also halts the Knicks’ 13-game postseason winning streak, the second-longest in league history.

Rookie guard Stephon Castle supplied 23 points for the Spurs, drilling a pivotal three-pointer with under two minutes remaining to create the cushion needed to withstand New York’s late push.

Jalen Brunson matched Wembanyama with 32 points, while OG Anunoby added 28 for the Knicks, who suffered their first loss since April 23.

San Antonio struck first, racing to an early double-digit margin behind Wembanyama’s quick four points. New York answered to seize a seven-point halftime lead, but the Spurs regained command after intermission as the 7-foot-4 forward steadied the offense and limited errors that proved costly in Game 2.

Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday night, again at Madison Square Garden, where the Spurs will try to even the best-of-seven series.
