The Minnesota Timberwolves added guard Terrence Shannon Jr. to Friday night’s Game 6 injury report, designating him questionable because of a head contusion, the team announced on social media hours before tip-off.
The organization did not specify when the injury occurred. Late additions to the report often signal uncertainty about a player’s availability, leaving Shannon’s status in doubt as Minnesota attempts to extend its postseason.
Shannon averaged 12.5 minutes across 43 regular-season appearances but has earned a larger role since the playoffs began. His breakout came in the first round’s decisive game against Denver, when he scored 24 points in nearly 35 minutes.
Through five games of the Western Conference semifinals against San Antonio, the rookie has posted 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists while logging 25.0 minutes per contest. He has struggled from the field, shooting 29.2% overall and 17.6% from three-point range against a Spurs defense that ranked third in the league.
If Shannon cannot play, head coach Chris Finch is expected to lean more on guards Ayo Dosunmu and Mike Conley. Bones Hyland, who has not been in the recent rotation, could also re-enter the mix.
The Timberwolves, trailing the series 3-2, must win at Target Center on Friday to force a decisive Game 7 on Sunday.
