The Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday confirmed five signings that firm up the club’s roster heading into the 2026-27 season.
First-round selections ink rookie contracts
Center Aday Mara, taken No. 12 overall, and guard Bennett Stirtz, selected at No. 16, both signed rookie-scale deals. Mara’s contract starts at $5.79 million and is worth $27.02 million over four years. Stirtz will earn $4.72 million in year one and up to $22.82 million across the same span.
The 7-foot-3 Mara, fresh off a national championship run with Michigan, joins a frontcourt that already features Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein, Jaylin Williams and Thomas Sorber. Stirtz, a 6-foot-4 playmaking shooter from Iowa, was secured after Oklahoma City traded two future second-round picks to move from No. 17 to No. 16 on draft night.
Two-way contracts filled
The Thunder also finalized two-way agreements with guards Otega Oweh, Brooks Barnhizer and Josh Dix.
Oweh, a Kentucky senior who averaged 18.6 points and 1.8 steals and hit a memorable NCAA tournament buzzer-beater, was chosen 41st overall after the club traded down from No. 37. Barnhizer, a 2025 second-round pick, accepted the two-way qualifying offer he received earlier in the week; he logged 1.7 points and 2.0 rebounds in 8.7 minutes over 40 games as a rookie. Dix went undrafted out of Creighton last week and quickly reached terms with Oklahoma City.
Players on two-way deals can be active for up to 50 regular-season games and are ineligible for the playoffs unless converted to standard contracts.
Roster outlook
With Friday’s moves, Oklahoma City has 13 players on guaranteed contracts and all three two-way slots filled. Veterans Isaiah Hartenstein and Kenrich Williams are expected to sign new standard deals once the league’s moratorium ends.
