Oklahoma City, OK — Thunder general manager Sam Presti dismissed concerns about center Chet Holmgren and outlined the franchise’s offseason priorities during his end-of-season press conference.
Holmgren drew criticism after Oklahoma City fell to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference finals, including a Game 7 performance of four points and four rebounds. Presti, however, highlighted the 22-year-old’s overall impact and his contribution to the Thunder’s championship run a year ago.
“Chet’s one of our guys,” Presti said. “He’s been so impactful. He drives winning on so many different levels for us. He didn’t have a great series in the last series, but I’m not really that concerned about him.”
The executive added that Holmgren’s self-motivation and competitive edge should help him rebound from the postseason setback.
Draft Capital and Roster Decisions
Oklahoma City enters the June draft with three selections, including the 12th and 17th picks in the first round. Presti said the front office will examine every scenario, from moving up or down the board to trading out entirely. “Everybody knows we try to move up every year,” he noted.
Presti also signaled that veteran options could be retained. Team options on Isaiah Hartenstein, Luguentz Dort and Kenrich Williams are under consideration, raising the possibility of keeping the core roster largely intact.
In addition, the GM praised young prospects Thomas Sorber and Jared McCain, expressing optimism about their long-term roles with the organization.
