The Phoenix Suns found the jolt they needed Friday when guard Jalen Green poured in 36 points, including eight three-pointers, to propel a play-in victory over the Golden State Warriors.
Green’s performance came in just his 33rd appearance of a season marred by repeated injuries. “Getting injured, coming back. Getting injured again, coming back. I think it happened three or four times. It was hard,” he said after the game.
Conversation With a Mentor
Following the win, Green shared a brief exchange with Stephen Curry, who has served as an informal mentor since Green was 16. “He was telling me to handle business in OKC,” Green noted.
Late-Game Ejections
Tensions flared in the fourth quarter when Devin Booker and Draymond Green were ejected for a heated verbal exchange. Booker downplayed the incident: “It’s nothing, man. … He’s a competitor. He loves the sport.”
Injury Report
Phoenix may be short-handed for Sunday’s opening game in Oklahoma City. Center Mark Williams (foot) and guard Grayson Allen (hamstring) are both listed as questionable. Williams played earlier in the week but sat out Friday, while Allen has been sidelined since April 10.
Brooks Cashes In
The Suns’ postseason berth also triggered a financial reward for forward Dillon Brooks, who secures a $1 million bonus, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
