The Phoenix Suns and free-agent guard Jordan Goodwin have agreed to a three-year, $19 million deal, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Charania reported that the contract includes a player option for the 2028-29 season. ESPN’s Bobby Marks added that the Suns will use Goodwin’s Early Bird rights to complete the signing, allowing a first-year salary that surpasses the total amount the 25-year-old had earned in his NBA career before this agreement.
When Phoenix’s offseason outlook was evaluated earlier, Goodwin had been projected for roughly three years and $18 million. The club has also reached a separate agreement to keep guard Collin Gillespie on a fully guaranteed four-year, $48 million contract.
With standard ascending salary structures for both guards, Spotrac’s Keith Smith projects Phoenix to sit $1.2 million over the luxury-tax threshold for 2026-27. The Suns will still have two open roster spots, and center Mark Williams remains a restricted free agent after receiving a $9.6 million qualifying offer.
Goodwin emerged as a key contributor last season after the Suns claimed him off waivers in July, shortly after the Lakers released him to clear space for Marcus Smart. In 70 regular-season games, the undrafted floor general averaged 8.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals across 22.5 minutes while shooting 37.1 percent from three-point range and providing consistent physical defense.
