Dallas, TX — Veteran assistant coach Joe Boylan has joined Dusty May’s staff with the Dallas Mavericks and will guide the club during NBA Summer League play, the team confirmed in a press release. Boylan had previously been linked to a position on Taylor Jenkins’ bench in Milwaukee before opting for Dallas, according to a report from Marc Stein.
Grizzlies Down Two Rookies
The Memphis Grizzlies will be without rookie forward Karim Lopez (mild left hamstring strain) and guard Walter Clayton (mild right knee sprain) at the Salt Lake City Summer League, a team spokesperson told reporters. Both players will be reevaluated ahead of the Las Vegas event. Lopez was selected 21st overall in the 2026 draft, while Clayton went 18th in 2025.
Pippen Secures 2026/27 Salary
Guard Scotty Pippen Jr. locked in his full $2.46 million salary for the 2026/27 season by remaining on the Grizzlies’ roster past the July 3 guarantee date. His contract had previously carried a $350,000 partial guarantee. The 25-year-old appeared in only 10 games last season after undergoing surgeries on both big toes.
Spurs Likely Done After Early Moves
Following a draft haul of four players, the re-signing of forward Harrison Barnes, and the free-agent addition of veteran Tobias Harris, the San Antonio Spurs are expected to have a quiet remainder of the offseason, ESPN’s Michael C. Wright reports. Harris is projected to come off the bench behind Julian Champagnie, who re-upped with San Antonio on a three-year, $45 million contract.
