LeBron James’ agent, Rich Paul, said the four-time NBA champion is unlikely to announce his future plans in the immediate future.
“I don’t think this happens anytime soon,” Paul told veteran reporter Mark Medina of Forbes, adding, “I don’t think it’ll be the next few days.”
Paul explained that James is approaching the offseason with every option open. “Everything is a blank slate,” he said, noting that the 39-year-old forward is taking his time to weigh all possibilities.
According to Paul, this is the first point in James’ career where he can make a decision without external pressure. “When he left Cleveland, he had to win a ring. When he came back, he had to deliver on the promise,” Paul said. “This is at this stage where he can decide what he wants to do and how he wants to do it.”
During a recent podcast appearance, Paul mentioned several potential destinations, including the Cavaliers, Nuggets, Timberwolves, Heat, Warriors, Mavericks, Celtics and Spurs. He added that a move to the defending champion Knicks is unlikely because James would prefer not to disrupt their chemistry.
Paul emphasized there is no set timeline. “I’m on his schedule,” he said. “I can’t tell the man how fast to move. When he’s telling me what he’s deciding, that’s when I’ll let you guys know.”
