Several high-level members of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ front office are adamantly against sending forward Evan Mobley to Milwaukee in a deal for Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to a report by Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
Fedor wrote that the organization “loves” Mobley and views the 22-year-old as a cornerstone on both ends of the floor. Some decision-makers also regard the 2021 No. 3 overall pick as an essential safety net for a potential future roster reset.
Antetokounmpo, a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, has surfaced in trade speculation as Milwaukee considers offseason changes. The possibility of pairing him with Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell—and potentially James Harden in a multiteam scenario—has generated buzz around the league.
Any realistic offer for Antetokounmpo would almost certainly require Cleveland to include Mobley, a price that several within the franchise consider too steep. How highly the Cavaliers continue to value Mobley could shape their approach if trade chatter around Antetokounmpo intensifies this summer.
