The Philadelphia 76ers have sent rookie forward Johni Broome and a 2027 second-round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for cash considerations, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Monday.
The transaction frees a roster spot and the necessary financial flexibility for Philadelphia to finalize a deal with veteran guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope while staying under the NBA’s first-apron hard cap.
Philadelphia had been actively seeking a trade partner for Broome as it worked to carve out room for Caldwell-Pope, according to earlier reporting by Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. Instead of waiving forward Jabari Walker, whose contract is only partially guaranteed, the 76ers attached a future pick to move Broome.
Fischer noted that Los Angeles will receive the second-most favorable of the 76ers’ three second-round selections in 2027. Law Murray of The Athletic added that Philadelphia will receive $1 million in cash as part of the agreement.
Caldwell-Pope, 31, became available after completing a buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies and is expected to sign with the 76ers once the trade is processed.
