PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers have identified Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Mike Gansey as a candidate in their ongoing search to bolster the team’s front office, according to Hoops Wire.
The report indicates Philadelphia has shown interest in speaking with Gansey as it evaluates options to strengthen its basketball operations department. It is not yet known whether the Cavaliers have granted permission for formal discussions or how advanced the process may be.
Gansey, 41, has been Cleveland’s general manager since February 2022 after previously serving as the team’s assistant GM. During his tenure, the Cavaliers assembled a roster that reached the Eastern Conference semifinals this season.
Philadelphia’s front-office review comes after the club was eliminated in the first round of the 2024 playoffs. Team president Daryl Morey is overseeing the search for additional executive talent.
No timeline for a decision has been disclosed, and neither organization has publicly commented on the potential talks.
