NEW YORK — Veteran forward Julius Randle is “excited” about moving from a 49-win club to the rebuilding Nets and “wants to be in Brooklyn,” league sources told HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

The Brooklyn angle

The trade sends Randle to the Nets and ships center Nic Claxton to Chicago. According to Scotto, Brooklyn’s front office was motivated in part by its plan to expand Day’Ron Sharpe’s responsibilities. Team officials have been impressed with the 22-year-old big man, who is currently penciled in as the starting center for the 2026/27 season.

Sharpe, the longest-tenured Net after arriving as a 2021 first-round pick, just logged career highs of 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals in 18.7 minutes per game while shooting 60.1% from the floor.

Turner on the block?

Bucks center Myles Turner has long believed he would become a trade candidate if Giannis Antetokounmpo were dealt, Scotto reports. The Hornets, Pelicans and Lakers have shown past interest, and the Celtics are now also viewed as a potential fit.

Blazers’ aggressive pursuit

Portland attempted to include its 2028 and 2030 first-round pick swaps with Milwaukee in bids for both Antetokounmpo and Celtics forward Jaylen Brown, league sources said. The Blazers dialed back after Antetokounmpo indicated he would not sign a long-term extension in Oregon, per Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald.

Murphy-Stewart framework

The Pistons remain among the teams that have expressed interest in Pelicans wing Trey Murphy III. Any proposal with New Orleans would “almost certainly” involve center Isaiah Stewart, whom Pelicans executive Troy Weaver drafted and admired while running Detroit’s front office, Scotto notes.

Ware staying put

Despite “some” interest from the Lakers, Milwaukee does not plan to flip rookie center Kelel Ware, tweets Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. The Bucks also intend to retain guard Kasparas Jakucionis, another young player acquired from Miami in the Antetokounmpo blockbuster.

The trade chatter continues league-wide as front offices position themselves ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
