The Boston Celtics are taking incoming trade inquiries for forward Jaylen Brown, league sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania, though the organization is not actively placing the two-time All-Star on the market.
According to Charania, Boston recently included Brown’s name during preliminary discussions with the Milwaukee Bucks before Milwaukee sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. No agreement materialized, and talks have not advanced.
Brown, 29, is about to start the second season of the five-year, $285 million extension he signed in 2023. The contract will pay him roughly $57.1 million in 2024-25, and he becomes eligible in July for an additional two-year extension estimated at $142 million.
Despite persistent speculation, Brown remains one of the NBA’s most productive two-way wings. He averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists last season while helping Boston to 58 wins and another All-Star berth.
The Celtics’ playoff run ended in the first round, where they lost a 3-1 series lead and fell to the Philadelphia 76ers in seven games. Brown posted averages of 25.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in the series.
Multiple teams have been linked to the former Finals MVP in recent weeks, including the Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans and Portland Trail Blazers, but no deal is considered imminent.
