The Houston Rockets have secured a commitment from free-agent guard Bogdan Bogdanovic on a one-year contract, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Team executives met with the 33-year-old on Tuesday and reached an agreement the same day.
Bogdanovic is coming off a difficult 2025-26 campaign in which injuries limited him to 23 appearances, including three starts. A ruptured hamstring suffered while representing Serbia at EuroBasket 2025 and a subsequent hip issue curtailed his effectiveness. He posted career lows of 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 19.7 minutes per game, shooting 38.8% from the field and 34.7% from beyond the arc.
Despite last season’s setbacks, the 6’5” guard owns a solid eight-year résumé with the Kings, Hawks and Clippers. Prior to 2025-26, he averaged 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists across 503 regular-season contests while knocking down 38.2% of his 6.4 three-point attempts per night.
Los Angeles declined Bogdanovic’s $16 million team option for 2026-27 on Monday, making him an unrestricted free agent. Reports indicated interest from several overseas clubs and a possible link to the Denver Nuggets, but he ultimately chose Houston.
With the Rockets, Bogdanovic is expected to bolster a backcourt that already features Fred VanVleet, Amen Thompson and rookie Reed Sheppard. The organization has also been linked to veteran guard Marcus Smart as it continues to reshape its perimeter rotation.
Financial terms of Bogdanovic’s contract were not disclosed. In similar situations, players sometimes accept the veteran minimum, although that detail has not been confirmed.
