Rockets Re-Sign Jae’Sean Tate to One-Year Contract

The Houston Rockets have brought back forward Jae’Sean Tate on a one-year, minimum-salary deal, the team announced Tuesday.
According to The Houston Chronicle, the agreement includes a partial guarantee of $1.04 million. Tate will earn $3,066,143, while the Rockets will carry a $2,449,421 cap hit.
Tate, 30, is the club’s longest-tenured player. The 6-foot-4 forward joined Houston as an undrafted free agent in 2020 and has appeared in 342 regular-season games and five playoff contests. His playing time has decreased each season since he averaged 29.2 minutes and earned All-Rookie First Team honors in 2020-21. Last year he saw 8.8 minutes per game across 46 appearances, contributing 2.8 points and 1.6 rebounds while shooting 51.4% from the field, 31.3% from three and 63.6% at the foul line.
The partial guarantee indicates Houston expects him to make the regular-season roster. With Tate and rookie Isaiah Crawford under contract, the Rockets hold 15 standard deals and sit $2.57 million above the luxury-tax threshold. The club could move back under the tax by waiving guard JD Davison, whose $2.58 million contract is non-guaranteed.
