The Houston Rockets have signed free-agent forward/center Oscar Tshiebwe, the club confirmed Friday through a press release. Contract details were not released, but Houston’s salary-cap position suggests the agreement is likely non-guaranteed.
Tshiebwe, 26, entered the league as an undrafted prospect out of Kentucky in 2023. He has appeared in 49 regular-season games with the Indiana Pacers and Utah Jazz, averaging 7.0 points and 6.5 rebounds over 15.2 minutes per contest. Last season, while on a two-way deal, he logged 7.8 points and 6.6 rebounds in 27 outings for Utah.
Renowned for his work on the glass, Tshiebwe has been dominant in the G League. In 64 games for the Salt Lake City Stars across the past two years, he averaged 15.4 points and a league-leading 17.3 rebounds.
He closed the 2025-26 NBA schedule with two standout performances for the Jazz, posting 22.5 points and 19.5 rebounds across 30.0 minutes per game. That stretch included a 22-rebound effort on April 10 against Memphis and nine offensive boards versus the Lakers on April 12.
Despite his rebounding prowess, Tshiebwe has yet to secure a consistent NBA role. His deal with Houston could be an Exhibit 10 contract, which may be converted to a two-way slot before opening night.
The Rockets recently re-signed Isaiah Crawford and Jae’Sean Tate, leaving them slightly over the luxury-tax line with 15 standard contracts. If the team decides to move back below the threshold, JD Davison and Tshiebwe project as the most at-risk players. Head coach Ime Udoka is expected to use training camp and preseason to determine who claims the potential 14th roster spot.
