The Detroit Pistons resembled a No. 1 seed Wednesday night, using a dominant third quarter to claim a 98-83 victory over the Orlando Magic at Little Caesars Arena and knot their first-round series at one game apiece.
Locked in a 45-45 battle at halftime, Detroit opened the second half on a 30-3 blitz, ultimately outscoring Orlando 38-16 in the period. The Pistons forced seven turnovers during the stretch and limited the Magic to 5-for-17 shooting, seizing control for good.
Cade Cunningham orchestrated the surge, finishing with 27 points and 11 assists while leading six Pistons in double figures. Tobias Harris supplied 16 points and 11 rebounds, helping Detroit control the glass and tempo on both ends.
Orlando endured its poorest shooting performance of the season, hitting just 33 percent overall and never recovering after Detroit’s third-quarter burst. The loss sends the series to Florida, where the Magic will host Games 3 and 4.
What’s next
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday in Orlando. The Pistons carry momentum; the Magic return to the comfort of their home court as the matchup continues.
