Madrid — Turkish center Omer Yurtseven is close to signing with Real Madrid for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign, according to BasketNews reporter Donatas Urbonas.
The 27-year-old would not be eligible for EuroLeague play, but the move is aimed at shoring up the frontcourt ahead of the Spanish League playoffs. Real Madrid is short on big men after injuries sidelined former NBA centers Edy Tavares and Alex Len, leaving ex-NBA forward Usman Garuba as the lone healthy interior option.
Yurtseven owns four seasons of NBA experience. He appeared in nine games with Golden State this year on a pair of 10-day contracts, averaging 3.8 points and 3.3 rebounds in 11.6 minutes.
Before the Warriors call-up, the 7-footer spent most of the past two seasons with Panathinaikos, parting ways with the Greek club in February. He then signed a G League deal and suited up for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers prior to landing in San Francisco.
Yurtseven broke into the NBA with Miami in 2021, logging 65 games over two seasons. He also played 48 contests for Utah during the 2023-24 schedule.
Negotiations are expected to conclude soon, positioning Yurtseven to join Real Madrid in time for the Liga Endesa postseason push.
