MINNEAPOLIS — Veteran forward Trey Lyles is returning to the NBA on a one-year deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to The Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski.
Lyles, 28, spent last season with Real Madrid, where he averaged 13.3 points and shot 44.3% from beyond the arc while helping the Spanish club reach the EuroLeague championship game. Before heading overseas, the 6-foot-9 forward logged 650 NBA appearances with the Jazz, Nuggets, Spurs, Pistons and Kings.
Minnesota had been searching for additional frontcourt depth after moving on from Julius Randle and Naz Reid earlier in the offseason, making Lyles a natural fit. The signing does not alter the team’s reported interest in LeBron James.
76ers add Caleb Love on two-way contract
PHILADELPHIA — The 76ers have agreed to a two-way contract with guard Caleb Love, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
Love, 22, averaged 10.4 points over 49 games as a rookie with the Trail Blazers last season. The former North Carolina and Arizona standout drew praise for his defense and playmaking despite uneven shooting.
He joins a retooled Philadelphia roster that has already acquired Jaylen Brown, Dean Wade, Anfernee Simons and Ariel Hukporti this summer. Earlier Friday, the Sixers also reached a two-way agreement with Rayan Rupert.
Jordan Miller stays with Clippers
LOS ANGELES — Guard-forward Jordan Miller is remaining with the Clippers on a three-year, $15.3 million contract, per ESPN. The Athletic noted that only the first season is fully guaranteed.
Miller, 24, averaged 10.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists last season after carving out a larger role in Los Angeles’ rotation. The former second-round pick entered restricted free agency when the team declined his option but reached a new deal quickly.
Fellow restricted free agent Kobe Sanders has also committed to return to the Clippers, while Bennedict Mathurin remains unsigned.
The free-agency period continues as teams finalize rosters ahead of training camp.
