Despite missing the start of the season with sciatica, James is averaging 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds in 33.2 minutes while shooting 51.5 percent from the field. With no clear signs of decline, executives expect widespread interest if he chooses to keep playing.
Lakers Remain Primary Contender
Los Angeles, which did not extend a multiyear offer before James exercised his player option last June, is still viewed as the front-runner.
