The Laketown Squadron, the New Orleans Pelicans’ NBA G League affiliate, has appointed Thomas Scott as general manager, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Scott arrives with a wide-ranging résumé that includes roles in player development, basketball operations, coaching and talent evaluation. Most recently, he served as director of basketball operations for the BIG3 and held an assistant coaching position with the now-disbanded G League Ignite.
The California native began his NBA career in New Orleans as an assistant video coordinator for the then-Hornets and later worked in player development with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers. His G League coaching stops span five different clubs.
The Squadron are in the midst of a major transition, rebranding ahead of their move from Birmingham, Alabama, to Kenner, Louisiana, for the 2026-27 season. The new site places the affiliate roughly 13 miles from the Pelicans’ home arena.
In a team Q&A, Scott—whose father is former NBA player and head coach Byron Scott—called the appointment “sentimental,” noting that he attended college in New Orleans and launched his professional path in the Hornets’ video room. “My goal is to create something special for the fans of New Orleans,” he said.
