The Los Angeles Lakers have finalized a two-year agreement with free-agent guard Collin Sexton worth roughly $19 million, the team announced July 12.

The deal was initially reached on July 1, according to ESPN. It includes a player option for the 2027-28 season and is being completed with the club’s room exception, which could raise the total value to about $19.2 million.

Sexton, 27, joins a rapidly retooled roster that also added center Walker Kessler via trade and signed guards Quentin Grimes and Sandro Mamukelashvili earlier the same afternoon. Those moves give Los Angeles a younger core as veterans LeBron James, Marcus Smart, and Luke Kennard depart in free agency.

The 6-foot-1 guard split last season between Charlotte and Chicago, bolstering the Bulls’ backcourt after a deadline trade. In 26 appearances for Chicago, he averaged 17.5 points per game while shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc. For his career, Sexton is a 39 percent three-point shooter.

With the room exception now allocated to Sexton and the salary cap space committed to Kessler, Grimes, and Mamukelashvili, the Lakers have used up their available spending avenues. The front office can still raise payroll through trades if additional help is needed.
