EuroLeague defensive ace Alpha Diallo is set to join the Denver Nuggets on a guaranteed one-year deal worth $1.4 million, according to agents Jared Mucha and Javon Phillips, who spoke with ESPN’s Shams Charania.

The contract will pay Diallo the rookie minimum of $1,357,763 for the 2026-27 NBA season.

European Success Leads to NBA Opportunity

Diallo, 29, just completed his fifth season with AS Monaco after an earlier stint with Lavrio in Greece. He captured the EuroLeague Best Defender award in 2025-26, one year after finishing third in the voting conducted by league head coaches.

Across 42 EuroLeague games last season, the 6-7 forward averaged 11.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.4 steals in 27.9 minutes. His 57 steals topped the competition, and analytics showed he allowed only 0.844 points per possession, best among forwards.

Diallo helped Monaco win France’s LNB Élite titles in 2023, 2024, and 2026 and reach the EuroLeague Final Four in 2025.

Path From Providence to Denver

The American wing earned All-Big East second-team honors twice at Providence before going undrafted in 2020. His defensive reputation grew steadily in Europe, drawing the attention of NBA scouts and, most recently, Denver’s front office. BasketNews first reported the Nuggets’ strong interest last week.

Denver’s Roster Picture

Diallo becomes the tenth player under a standard contract for Denver. The Nuggets have also reached reported minimum agreements with Tyus Jones and Marvin Bagley III and are negotiating new deals with restricted free agents Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones. Second-round pick Bryce Hopkins remains unsigned.
