The New York Knicks are uncertain whether Mitchell Robinson will be available for the NBA Finals after the center fractured his right pinky finger earlier this week, reporters James L. Edwards III and Fred Katz of The Athletic revealed. Several other outlets have since confirmed the injury.

No timetable has been set for Robinson’s return, leaving his status for the championship series—scheduled to begin Wednesday against either the Oklahoma City Thunder or San Antonio Spurs—in question.

The timing is challenging for New York. Robinson, 26, played 60 regular-season games this year, his highest total since 2019-20, averaging 5.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks while ranking among the league’s top offensive rebounders.

Although his postseason minutes have dropped to 14.2 per game because opponents often foul him intentionally, his size, rebounding and interior defense remain central to the Knicks’ identity. New York is making its first NBA Finals appearance since 1999 and now must wait to see whether one more health setback can be managed before the series begins.
