James is scheduled to appear Thursday, July 10, at Fanatics Fest for a live recording of Mind the Game alongside Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton. The session is set for 1:15 p.m. ET and has sparked speculation that the four-time champion might use the event to reveal where he will play next season. If no announcement is made, James is also booked for a live taping of The Shop on Friday, offering a second high-profile stage.
Cleveland Viewed as Likely Destination
Multiple league contacts told NBC Sports’ Kurt Helin and Hoops Wire that the Cleveland Cavaliers remain the team to beat in the chase for the Akron native. Miami and Philadelphia are still considered viable contenders, while Golden State maintains hope of pairing James with Stephen Curry. Denver and Minnesota have also been mentioned, though less frequently.
Durant Sees Cavaliers as Best Fit
Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant told reporters he believes “in my heart of hearts” that James will choose Cleveland, though he added that Philadelphia “got a big chance too.” Durant called a hypothetical James-Curry partnership in Golden State “a movie” but joked that anyone waiting for James and Durant to unite would be “waiting for the rest of your life.”
Pacers Opt Out of Recruitment
Indiana does not intend to pursue James, according to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson of ScoopB.com. A team source said the Pacers prefer to build around their existing core. Robinson also reported that James has questions about 76ers center Joel Embiid’s long-term health as he weighs Philadelphia’s offer.
