Melbourne United has secured former New Orleans Pelicans forward/center Josh Oduro on a one-year contract, the Australian club announced on Wednesday.
“From everything I’ve heard and seen, Melbourne looks like an amazing city, and I’m excited to get on the court and give my all for United and our fans,” the 25-year-old said in the team release. “The coaches have been great throughout this process and I’m really excited for this roster and the teammates that I get to play with.”
Oduro went undrafted in 2024 after four seasons at George Mason and one at Providence. He signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Pelicans the same year, spending the 2024/25 season with the organization’s G League affiliate.
The 6-9 big man re-signed with New Orleans on another Exhibit 10 contract before the 2025/26 campaign but was waived prior to opening night. He returned to the NBA G League, where he averaged 15.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.1 steals across 43 games (29.3 minutes).
New Orleans converted Oduro to a two-way deal in early March. He appeared in the Pelicans’ final three games last season, posting 8.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in 27.3 minutes per contest.
In Melbourne, Oduro joins a roster that already features veteran swingman Joe Ingles and Australian prospect Luke Travers.
