Veteran NBA assistant Jerry Stackhouse has entered the mix for the Chicago Bulls’ vacant head-coaching job, according to a report from Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
Stackhouse, 49, spent 18 seasons in the league as a player from 1995 to 2013. Since retiring, he has built a varied résumé on the sidelines, serving as an assistant with the Raptors (2015-16), Grizzlies (2018-19) and, most recently, the Warriors (2024-26). He also logged head-coaching stints with G League affiliate Raptors 905 (2016-18) and Vanderbilt University (2019-24).
Reporting last week indicated that Stackhouse’s contract with Golden State had expired and that he was actively pursuing an NBA head-coaching post.
Chicago’s search list extends beyond Stackhouse. Spurs assistant Sean Sweeney, Bulls assistant Wes Unseld Jr., former Pelicans coach James Borrego, Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori, Thunder assistant Dave Bliss, Hornets assistant Lamar Skeeter, and Hawks assistant Ryan Schmidt are also receiving consideration as the franchise looks to replace Billy Donovan.
