With the NBA Draft roughly two weeks away, podcaster and analyst Bill Simmons believes any potential decision involving Giannis Antetokounmpo could arrive sooner than expected.
Simmons predicts an early move
Speaking on a recent episode of “The Bill Simmons Podcast,” the media personality emphasized that he was offering a prediction, not a report. Still, he said he “feels like there’s gonna be a big trade soon,” adding that if Milwaukee opts to move its two-time MVP, the transaction is unlikely to “get super close to the draft.”
Simmons noted that major deals often wait until the NBA Finals conclude, but he suggested this one could surface before draft week. He pointed to the league’s tendency to keep the spotlight on the Finals before offseason headlines take over.
Heat again linked to the Bucks star
During the podcast, Simmons named the Miami Heat as a plausible landing spot. Miami has frequently appeared in speculation around Antetokounmpo thanks to its draft capital and history of chasing elite players. Any package, Simmons said, would require substantial picks and matching salaries.
Status quo in Milwaukee
Despite renewed chatter, there is no indication Antetokounmpo has asked out, nor is there evidence the Milwaukee Bucks are actively shopping their franchise cornerstone. League insiders have reported that Milwaukee continues to assess its roster while rival clubs monitor developments closely.
Beyond Miami, the Trail Blazers, Celtics, Warriors, and Timberwolves have all surfaced in various rumors surrounding the 2021 NBA champion. For now, however, all talk remains speculative as the countdown to the draft continues.
