LeBron James has not yet revealed his team for the 2024-25 NBA season, but the upcoming Fanatics Fest in New York is emerging as a potential backdrop for a decision that has dominated the league’s offseason.

The four-time MVP is scheduled for multiple appearances at the July 18-20 event, including a live recording of Mind the Game with Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton on Thursday and an episode of The Shop on Friday. Although no formal announcement is planned, the timing has intensified speculation that his choice could surface during the three-day festival.

Cleveland, Miami, Golden State and Philadelphia remain the franchises most frequently linked to the 39-year-old forward. ESPN insider Shams Charania reported that the process “appears to be drawing closer,” while veteran journalist Marc Stein described the Cavaliers as the current frontrunner.

Newly hired Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson fueled talk of a return to Ohio during an interview on SiriusXM NBA Radio over the weekend. “We’re in the mix for the greatest player of all time,” Atkinson said. “I know the state of Ohio, man. There’s something special there.”

The Warriors are also pushing hard. Forward Draymond Green acknowledged spending several days recruiting James, and two-time MVP Stephen Curry is believed to be involved in Golden State’s efforts.

With most suitors having delivered their pitches and league insiders indicating the saga is entering its final stage, attention now shifts to whether James will use Fanatics Fest—or a moment beforehand—to end the suspense.
