The New Orleans Pelicans have re-signed center DeAndre Jordan, according to the NBA’s transaction log dated July 11. Contract details were not disclosed, but the deal is widely expected to be a one-year agreement at the veteran minimum salary.

Initial word of the agreement surfaced on June 30, when NBA reporter Chris Haynes indicated the Pelicans planned to retain the 35-year-old big man. Jordan appeared in 12 games for New Orleans last season, starting seven, and averaged 4.4 points and 6.3 rebounds over 16.6 minutes per contest.

Beyond his on-court production, team officials and reporters have highlighted Jordan’s influence in the locker room. Forbes’ Mark Medina noted that the three-time All-NBA center served as a mentor to forward Zion Williamson and 2025 first-round pick Derik Queen. ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk reported that Jordan is expected to continue guiding Queen as the rookie center works to establish himself in the league.

The upcoming campaign will mark Jordan’s 19th NBA season. Medina added that the veteran has previously expressed a goal of reaching 20 seasons in the league.
