Milwaukee, WI — On Monday, the day his move to the Miami Heat was finalized, Giannis Antetokounmpo posted two videos thanking the Bucks and the city of Milwaukee. The two-time MVP called the city “my home” and stressed that it “will always be in my heart,” noting his family’s deep ties to the area.

Antetokounmpo, 31, asked fans not to view him as a villain for requesting the trade. “Hopefully, when people see me and think about me, they remember the things I’ve done for the team and the city,” he said. Speaking with longtime Bucks broadcaster Jim Paschke, the forward added that finishing his career in Milwaukee “would be awesome” if circumstances allow.

Central Division roundup

Bulls: First-year Chicago head coach Tiago Splitter ran the bench for the team’s first two Summer League contests instead of delegating the role to an assistant. Splitter said he wanted to “set the tone” for rookies Caleb Wilson and Dailyn Swain and familiarize himself with the staff.

Bulls rookie Noa Essengue: The 2025 first-round pick is returning from left-shoulder surgery that cut short his rookie season in December. Essengue told reporters he is “about 98%” recovered but still dealing with range-of-motion issues and is unsure how many Las Vegas Summer League games he will play.

Pacers: Second-round pick Braden Smith (No. 38 overall) said his 5-10 height will not limit his NBA prospects. “At the end of the day, it’s about whether you can play basketball,” the point guard said, pointing to his ability to read the floor and compete regardless of size.
