The Milwaukee Bucks are weighing moves for two young wings as they reshape their roster after trading Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Bucks
League sources told Hoops Wire contributors that Milwaukee has shown interest in forward Jonathan Kuminga, while also evaluating a potential sign-and-trade for Denver Nuggets restricted free agent Peyton Watson. Because the Bucks are pressed against the salary cap, either acquisition would likely require a sign-and-trade arrangement, according to Bucks on SI reporter Tre Allen.
Watson, 23, is expected to command a sizable raise after a breakout year in Denver. The Nuggets have publicly stated confidence in keeping him. Kuminga’s market remains fluid after the Atlanta Hawks declined his team option, leaving the 21-year-old as one of the more intriguing names available.
Thunder
In Oklahoma City, the Thunder may address perimeter shooting from within. Thunder on SI’s Ivan White reported that second-year guard Cason Wallace could assume a larger offensive role next season. Wallace hit 48.4 percent of his three-point attempts during Oklahoma City’s playoff run and is viewed as a candidate to absorb some of the outside shooting responsibilities vacated by Isaiah Joe, who was traded to Detroit.
Kings
Rookie guard Darius Acuff Jr. offered a promising glimpse of his potential during Summer League. The No. 7 overall pick averaged 20.8 points per game while showcasing the shot creation that made him a top prospect, Will Zimmerle of Kings on SI noted. Sacramento officials acknowledge that Acuff’s shooting efficiency and defensive consistency need refinement but believe he has the tools to become a cornerstone in the team’s ongoing rebuild.
