Former Golden State Warriors swingman Andre Iguodala told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that he would like to see LeBron James sign with the Warriors and share a backcourt with Stephen Curry.
“Considering where they’re at in their careers, what they did in Paris,” Iguodala said, referencing the 2024 Olympic gold medal the two stars secured for Team USA, “it would be amazing.” The 2015 NBA Finals MVP added that James might be “the smartest basketball player” he has ever watched.
James, 39, is an unrestricted free agent. Golden State is among the clubs linked to him, although league observers continue to view the Cleveland Cavaliers as the frontrunner. The Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Minnesota Timberwolves have also surfaced in recent speculation.
Iguodala noted that simply imagining James and Curry on the same roster has captured the attention of fans around the league. “We all tune in, regardless if we like it or not,” he said.
James and Curry have faced each other in four NBA Finals since 2015, creating one of the era’s signature rivalries. A potential partnership in San Francisco remains hypothetical, but Iguodala, like many around the NBA, will be watching for the decision.
