AJ Dybantsa Slated to Meet Wizards Ahead of 2026 Draft

BYU standout AJ Dybantsa, widely viewed as a leading candidate for the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, is expected to travel to Washington, D.C., within the next few days for meetings with the Washington Wizards, according to multiple league sources. The visit could occur as soon as Thursday.
The Wizards own the draft’s top selection and have kept their intentions private. Dybantsa, a 6-foot-9 wing, led the nation in scoring during his lone college season, averaging 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 51.0 percent from the field.
Washington’s front office is also evaluating Kansas guard Darryn Peterson, Duke forward Cameron Boozer and North Carolina forward Caleb Wilson. A league source said Wilson has already met with Wizards officials.
Within the organization, two prospects are considered a tier above the rest, a team source told The Athletic. Around the league, scouts and executives generally view Dybantsa and Peterson as that top duo.
The Wizards may still be undecided on their preferred choice. Dybantsa’s visit is expected to center on conversations and dinners rather than on-court workouts, mirroring Wilson’s recent stop in Washington.
