The 2026 NBA Finals received an unmistakable European touch on Tuesday night when a traveling supporters’ section known as “Wemby’s Jackals” showed up in force for Game 2 between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks.

The group—named after Spurs standout Victor Wembanyama—occupied a block of seats and rolled out drums, flags and coordinated chants more commonly heard in European arenas. Their presence injected an international atmosphere into an already high-stakes matchup, drawing curious looks from Knicks loyalists and applause from neutral spectators.

Members of the fan club said they organized their trip months ago, purchasing tickets as soon as the Finals schedule was set. Many flew in from France, Spain and Germany, determined to support Wembanyama and the Spurs as the franchise seeks its first championship since 2014.

Security officials reported no incidents linked to the contingent, noting that the Jackals followed arena guidelines while maintaining their trademark noise. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich briefly acknowledged the group during his post-game remarks, thanking “all our fans who made the journey.”

The Spurs and Knicks resume the best-of-seven series later this week, with San Antonio holding a 1-0 lead heading into Game 2.
