San Antonio Spurs rookie center Victor Wembanyama and several other NBA players have publicly condemned acts of violence directed at Spurs supporters, according to ESPN.

In statements released Monday, Wembanyama joined unnamed colleagues in urging greater respect and safety for fans attending games and related events. The players stressed that physical intimidation and aggression have no place in or around NBA arenas.

Specific details about the incidents or the number of fans affected were not provided. League and team officials have not yet announced whether additional security measures will be introduced in response to the players’ appeals.

Wembanyama, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft, emphasized that basketball should unite communities rather than divide them. “Everyone deserves to cheer for their team without fear,” he said in his statement.

The Spurs organization has not issued a separate comment, and the NBA has yet to release an official response.
