St. John’s University recorded a landmark moment on June 24, 2026, when two former Red Storm players heard their names called during the NBA Draft.
The Boston Celtics selected forward Dillon Mitchell, giving the Queens-based program its first pick of the night. A short time later, fellow St. John’s product Bryce Hopkins was also drafted, capping what the school described as a historic evening for its men’s basketball team.
With Mitchell and Hopkins both moving on to the professional ranks, St. John’s celebrated multiple draft selections in the same year — a rare achievement in the program’s history.
