NEW YORK — NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated that the league’s investigation into Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard has to be completed before the upcoming regular season begins.
Silver, addressing reporters on Monday, emphasized that the probe’s findings need to be finalized “well ahead” of opening night so that all parties understand any possible ramifications before games start to count in the standings. He did not specify what potential disciplinary measures could follow or outline a precise timetable, but reiterated that the process cannot extend into the new season.
The league opened the investigation earlier this offseason; details of the inquiry have not been disclosed publicly.
