Forward OG Anunoby said Thursday he is savoring the New York Knicks’ current surge, calling the moment “historic” as the franchise moves closer to a long-awaited NBA championship opportunity.
Speaking to reporters on June 12, 2026, Anunoby described the team’s postseason push as a rare chance to cement its place in franchise history. “It’s special,” he noted, adding that he intends to stay focused on preparation while appreciating the atmosphere surrounding the club.
The Knicks have not captured an NBA title since 1973. Anunoby, who joined the roster this season, said that statistic gives the playoff run added weight for both players and fans. “Everyone feels it,” he said. “We want to bring something back to New York that hasn’t been here in a long time.”
Anunoby stressed that the group is treating each practice with urgency. “We have to keep doing the little things: defend, rebound, share the ball,” he explained. “If we execute, we’ll give ourselves the best chance when the Finals start.”
