According to the New York Post, Brunson shared the image on social media and pointedly addressed those who questioned whether he could lead a title team on his own merits.
The gesture followed New York’s victory in the NBA Finals on Monday night, a win that cemented Brunson’s role at the center of the organization’s first championship run of the decade. Throughout the season, outside voices had debated whether the Knicks needed another primary scorer, tagging Brunson as a “1B” rather than the top option. The veteran guard used the trading card moment to dismiss that narrative less than 24 hours after lifting the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
The brief social-media exchange served as Brunson’s first public response to the criticism since the Finals ended and capped a whirlwind 24-hour celebration for both the player and the franchise.
