The team’s decision became public on Tuesday, July 9. The move came shortly after the social-media allegation began circulating online. Details about the post, including the identity of the account and when the supposed relationship took place, were not released.
Tobey, who joined the Spurs’ broadcast crew for the 2025-26 NBA season, has not commented publicly on the situation. The Spurs also have not issued a formal statement beyond confirming his departure.
It was not immediately clear who will assume play-by-play duties for the remainder of the offseason and the upcoming campaign.
