Giannis Antetokounmpo said on July 17, 2026, that he is ready to shoulder the expectations that come with his move to the Miami Heat, promising to do “whatever it takes” to deliver success in South Florida.

The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player addressed reporters a short time after the trade that sent him from the Milwaukee Bucks to Miami became official. Antetokounmpo acknowledged that joining a franchise with a passionate fan base and a recent history of deep playoff runs brings added scrutiny, but he insisted the challenge is welcome.

“Pressure is part of the job,” Antetokounmpo said. “I’m here to compete and to win. Whatever it takes, that’s what I’m going to do.”

Details of the deal were not discussed during the brief media session. Antetokounmpo said he would spend the coming weeks meeting with Heat coaches and teammates as the club prepares for training camp.
