ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania pushed back Monday against comments by Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers, who had labeled Charania’s recent coverage of locker-room turmoil “inaccurate.”
Speaking on ESPN’s airwaves on April 13, Charania said Rivers’ criticism misrepresents his work and the sourcing behind it. “I stand by every detail we reported,” Charania told the network, adding that multiple team and league sources confirmed the information.
Rivers had questioned Charania’s reporting over the weekend, suggesting the story exaggerated internal tension surrounding the Bucks as they approach the postseason. The veteran coach said the account “wasn’t close” to reality, prompting Charania’s on-air rebuttal.
The exchange follows weeks of speculation about chemistry issues in Milwaukee after the club’s mid-season coaching change and a stretch of uneven play. Neither Rivers nor the Bucks’ front office has offered additional comment.
