Retired Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade said New York is “buzzing” as the Knicks stand just one victory away from their first NBA championship in more than five decades.
Speaking on June 13, 2026, Wade lauded the team’s toughness, calling its path to a 3-? series lead “a lesson in resiliency.” He added that the Knicks have “responded to every challenge” this postseason and credited both veterans and younger players for maintaining focus.
The three-time NBA champion acknowledged the heightened energy around Madison Square Garden, noting “the city feels different when the Knicks are winning.” Wade said players can draw momentum from that atmosphere, but cautioned that closing out a Finals series is “the hardest game you’ll ever play.”
New York can clinch the championship in Game 5, scheduled for later this week at home. A win would deliver the franchise’s first Larry O’Brien Trophy since 1973.
